When Our Facades Are Torn: Life Is Born

Back at it again! God is absolutely creative in His ways of connecting to us. And He sure knows well how effective music is, to reach out to me.

Sharing my song for the week.

I WON’T LET YOU GO
by Switchfoot with Lauren Daigle
Songwriters: Jonathan Mark Foreman / Timothy David Foreman

Verse 1
When it feels like surgery
And it burns like third degree
And you wonder what is it worth?
When your insides breaking in
And you feel that ache again
And you wonder
What’s giving birth?

Pre-chorus:
If you could let the pain of the past go
Of your soul
None of this is in your control

Chorus:
If you could only let your guard down
If you could learn to trust me somehow
I swear, that I won’t let you go
If you could only let go of your doubts
If you could just believe in me now
I swear, that I won’t let you go
I won’t let you go

Verse 2
When your fear is currency
And you feel that urgency
You want peace but there’s war in your head
Maybe that’s where life is born
When our façades are torn
Pain gives birth to the promise ahead

[Pre-chorus then Chorus]

I’ll always be by your side
If you could only let go your doubts
If you could just believe in me now
I swear, that I won’t let you go
I won’t let you go (I won’t let you go)

There ain’t no darkness strong enough that could tear you out from my heart
There ain’t no strength that’s strong enough that could tear this love apart
Never gonna let you go
Never gonna let you go
No I won’t let you go

I broke down in tears when the chorus part started playing. It’s such a beautiful song! It’s like I can hear God speaking the lyrics to me, and the cry baby that I am, just loses it. HAHA

Your love is amazing, Lord. You just won’t let go of me no matter what. Thank you for your love so great and powerful. I love you with all that I am.

Regarding the title I chose, I simply picked one of the lines that struck me the most (aside from the chorus). It made me realize that yeah, I guess when we’re stripped off of our facades, masks, pretensions, and when we just be who we are — that’s when we truly live.
