What I Think About Apicuria Oral Spray

Can you believe it? I’m getting the hang of trying and reviewing products! 😀 Today’s review will revolve around this throat soothing spray from BeeEmpire Inc. Game?? GAME!

“Ay parang tinunaw na honey-flavoured Maxx candy!” Yes. That’s my unfiltered first impression of the oral spray. Honey sweet, a little sour, menthol-ish taste. Who else thinks that it tastes like Maxx candy? Maybe it’s just me. Hoho

When it came in the mail, I didn’t really have any reason to need a spray or two in my throat. I was totally fine that day. But I sprayed away, anyway. I was too curious what it tastes like! The husband had an almost healed canker sore so we took a chance on that. No noticeable effect. Maybe because the canker sore was almost healed. But we both like the taste. That’s a thumbs up!

According to the person who contacted me, it is an all natural throat soother made of the following ingredients:

Harlika Pure Honey, Propolis, Licorice extract, Marshmallow Root, Mentha Arvensis Oil, Perilla seed extract, Calamansi (Vitamin C)

It helps soothe throats, relieves cough, and can also be used on canker sores (singaw) as well. Just spray 2 to 3 pumps on throat, mouth or affected area 3 times a day or as needed, preferably after meals. It’s of course best to start at the first signs of sore throat or cough.

I’m not too surprised of the idea of honey and calamansi ingredients to soothe sore throats and the like because whenever I’m feeling like I’m going to catch a cold — scratchy throat to begin with, I mix honey (Pure honey sent by my grandpa from the province) with calamansi or apple cider, and I gulp it down my throat. I was used to this growing up, and it works every time! Soothes the uncomfortable feeling in my throat, and I feel less guilty about feeling unwell. Haha

Just a heads up:

It is not advisable for those with allergy or hypersensitivity to any component in the product and children below 1 year old. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescribed medications, consult a doctor before using. Also, do not spray directly to the nose. You wouldn’t really like that.

Apicuria oral spray is a product of BeeEmpire Inc., which is a start up social enterprise working with Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm. They are bee keepers and advocates beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood and as an integral part of crop production in the Philippines. Beekeeping can allow income generation through products made by bees such as honey, wax, royal jelly and propolis. By building a community of beekeepers, The Bee Empire aspires to create a commercial value chain that produces a line of high quality bee products.

What I like about what BeeEmpire did with Apicuria Oral Spray is that they made access to this natural/sore throat soother more convenient since you can actually bring it anywhere with you! The packaging is really handy, I would say. I don’t think I’d have honey and calamansi always with me. I have it readily available at home, but not really on my pouch. Hassle! Haha That’s where Apicuria Oral Spray’s advantage comes in.

So if you’re thinking of trying it out, their main distribution channel is Human Nature, for Php299 per 12ml bottle. But you can also find this at thegoodstore.ph.

You wonder if I would recommend it?

Why not? I think it would be nice to have it handy. We can save ourselves from too much uncomfortableness brought about by a budding sore throat and cough. But if you’re just at home, I still recommend doing it the old school way. 😉

I probably will have a followup post on this when I get to use it on an actual sore throat. Despite lack of sleep the past nights, I’m still doing okay 😀 No scratchy/sore throat! And that’s good! 😀
